ew ferengi
My name is Happy Pham, Acting Ensign of Starfleet on NCC-1701-H. And yes, you heard that right. I abhor the Ferengi wherever they go, and I'll explain why that is in a moment.
As Acting Ensign, I have encountered countless alien societies everywhere I go. Klingons, Vulcanians, Romulans, Cardassians, Arcadians, Arcturians, even Ramatisians. But none of these species to whom I bear the same amount of hatred to than the Ferengi. Yes, Romulans included. The second-last species we'd encountered with before Arcturians. We were on a mission towards Epsilon Legato when a Ferengi starship attempted an ambush. Of course, we tried initiating friendly contact, but to no avail. Through their growly voices, we were forced to hear a 10-minute long speech on how, as there'd been a human-led ambush on the same Ferengi ship 3 centuries ago, that 'revenge' is justified. For what? What did WE do?
Either way, they kidnapped our captain, our 'Number One' and 3 other navigations officers. To save them, the Ferengi who took our innocent companions hostage - with whom we made negotiations on Epsilon Legato III - opted to surrender them so long as we bought a 'very precious, golden meteorite'. In a moneyless society that is the Federation, external transactions with bargainers like the Ferengi means the use of credit. This time, 750 million to be exact.
Fortunately, their abrupt power was eventually undermined as, when distracted, we'd been able to beam up each of our crew members unharmed. So much for the power grabbing and time wasted.
"Oh, but over one incident? How petty." Haha, if only. We encountered 10 incident - all of which were Ferengi-caused - both prior to & following previously-mentioned incident. One related to espionage, another related to commissions carried out for money from within their communities, et cetera. In short, I've seen more than enough to justify my hatred. Argue with the wall on that one.
